BR2-17: ANIMAL HOSPITAL

When animals are sick or hurt, they go to the animal hospital. They vet always has a lot to do. Medicine is given, and some animals even have operations. A lot happens at the animal hospital.

I read "Animal Hospital" written by Carmel Reilly. The story about working at the animal hospital. Work starts at 6.30 a.m. when the day nurse arrives. The day nurse checks three things, temperature, pulse and breathing. Then, she takes all the animal one by one, to have a good look at them. The day nurse also checks to see if the animal look happy and if they are eating well. Then, she gives the animals their medicine and cleans their cages. At 8.00 a.m. the veteran arrives at the animal hospital. There are many sick animals and sometimes the animals hit by a car, hurt by another animal and eating something that is not good, like poison. So the vet thinks about what to do with them next. Some of animals need a drip, more medicine or even an operation. When animals are better, they go to another part of the hospital where they can rest before going home. At 4.30 p.m. the day nurse goes home, at the same time, another nurse arrives to care for the animals in to the night. This nurse stays until midnight. Before she goes home, she checks that all the animals are safe and have everything they need for the night.
